News on environmental zones and air pollution

EU does too little to tackle air pollution

According to the EU's Court of Auditors, the EU is not ambitious enough to improve air quality, although it would be financially worthwhile: the costs of complying with the directive on air quality are estimated at 5 to 8 billion euros, but the financial benefits could be from 37 to 119 billion euros annually from 2050 onwards. This is due to health costs and the 400,000 premature deaths caused by air pollution.
