News on environmental zones and air pollution
In Germany, many cities have already been brought to court to force them to comply with the permitted levels of nitrogen oxide. For this reason, diesel traffic restrictions have been introduced in Hamburg or Stuttgart. However, the Federal Environment Agency does not consider this limit to be optimal for human health: 20 µg/m³ would be more relevant. In this case, driving bans in cities such as Dresden (40 µg/m³), Leipzig (40 µg/m³) or Karlsruhe (40 µg/m³) would make sense. However, such a legislative change is unrealistic.
