Diesel Vehicle Ban in Hamburg: a Signal for Berlin?

On 31 May, the first ban on diesel vehicles in Germany enters into force in Hamburg. As Berlin exceeds the limit values for nitrogen oxides (NO2) of 40 µg/m³, the city has already introduced measures including a speed limit for better air quality. The senator for the environment and traffic was already considering the option of a ban on diesel driving from 2019 at the earliest, and the city is now under pressure.
