News on environmental zones and air pollution

Hamburg after one year of driving bans

The two road sections in Hamburg, where old diesel vehicles are banned, are still highly contaminated with nitrogen oxide. On Stresemannstrasse, the nitrogen oxide limit was exceeded on 187 of 365 days. The measured values on Max-Brauer-Allee are even worse: more than 40µg/m³ on 217 days! Are bans on diesel driving useless? Opponents feel justified, but on the contrary one could argue for a strengthening or an enlargement of the environmental zone according to the model of Stuttgart.
