News on environmental zones and air pollution
It is currently being heard that Lower Saxony's Minister of the Environment, Olaf Lies, has proposed lowering the fuel tax in order to deprive diesel of its attractiveness. This is a hard contrast to the propositions made so far: increasing the diesel tax in order to compensate the difference between the two drive types. It is doubtful, however, whether it is useful to make petrol cheaper, even though these vehicles emit a lot of particulate matter and CO2. On the long term, the only acceptable solution might be the stronger investment into low-emission transport.
