The environmental zone of Hamburg (blue)

On 28.02.2018, the city of Hamburg introduced diesel driving bans in parts of the street Max-Bauer-Straße and the whole street Stresemannstraße.
As of 31.05.2018, diesel vehicles and trucks which do not fulfil the EURO 6 standard will be banned from these two streets.
As an exception, it is stipulated that the prohibition applies only to trucks on Stresemannstrasse and not to passenger cars yet.

Following the Federal Administrative Court’s decision on 27.02.2018, diesel driving restrictions can be legally imposed by German cities and municipalities.
Individual streets or whole areas can become diesel restriction zones. These diesel restriction zones (blue zones) can affect different EURO standards and vehicle types and can even be time-limited.

Hamburg is the first city in Germany fighting against nitrogen oxides with the imposition of diesel driving restrictions.

The temporary driving bans depend on many factors, such as the age of the vehicle, EURO standard, the first and possibly second fuel type and many more. Sometimes current air values and the general weather situation play a role in connection with holidays and trade fairs. Not allowed to drive (permanently):
Permanent driving bans are very complex and partly depend on the type of vehicle, the Euronorm whether an environmental sticker or registration is available and how many people are sitting in the car. To display this correctly, please use our Green-Zones App.
