News on environmental zones and air pollution
After several cities were forced by the Administrative Court to introduce diesel driving bans, the regional government appealed against the decision. Today, cities feel relieved that the federal government's bill to impose diesel bans only beyond 50µg/m³ has not been retooled by the EU. Only three cities would still be affected in this case: Cologne (59 µg/m³), Düsseldorf (53 µg/m³) and Dortmund (51 µg/m³). However, it should not be forgotten that the permitted limit of 40µg/m³ must be respected with or without amendment of the Federal Emissions Control Act. It seems that cities refuse to face reality.
