Environmental zones in Germany

The introduction of environmental zones in Germany is based on the ordinance from the 10.10.2006, which came into force on the same date. Thus, cities, municipalities and communities are legally able since the 01.03.2007 to identify on their territory an environmental zone in which only the vehicles bearing the corresponding environmental badge are allowed to drive.
Until today, 55 environmental zones have been set up in Germany, whose main goal is to reduce the rates of fine particles in German cities and municipalities.
