News on environmental zones and air pollution
The capital city is waiting for driving bans. But the implementation so far leaves much to be desired. As the Berliner Morgenpost reported yesterday, the new driving bans have been delayed. The reason for this is the lack of traffic signs identifying and announcing the corresponding zones in Mitte and Neukölln. District mayor Martin Hikel assumes that the missing signs will be available and installed "by the end of the year". At first it was planned to have the driving bans for older diesel vehicles in force by the end of August - at the latest by the beginning of September. It remains to be seen with scepticism whether the ban will be implemented by the end of the year.
