News on environmental zones and air pollution
Cruise ships are real environmental polluters. The Blue Angel award for the shipping company Aida Cruises is all the more pleasing. The Papenburg-based company is thus the first cruise ship builder ever to be allowed to carry the eco-label. The reason for the trend-setting award is the fact that the new ship is operated exclusively with liquefied natural gas Liquified Natural Gas (LNG). Thanks to this fuel, the Aida Nova emits 80 percent less nitrogen oxides and 20 percent less CO2 than most conventional cruise and merchant ships. Other shipping companies now want to follow suit.
