Can electric trucks be economically viable until 2030? Experts doubt it, even with the new model from Tesla. The 30-ton Tesla Semi was recently introduced: It should have a range of 800km, need a recharging time of 30 minutes for 640km and consume 2.9 times less energy per 100km than a diesel engine. The prerequisites for a success, however, are an increase in the share of electricity from renewable energies and higher prices for offsetting CO2 emissions.
