News on environmental zones and air pollution
Air pollution has direct and indirect costs for the economy (premature deaths, diseases...). Between 2018 and 2025, this could amount to around €475 billion according to a report commissioned by the European Commission. However, the problems do not have the same causes everywhere in Europe: if in the West, the main problem is transport, the main cause of air pollution in Eastern Europe is domestic heating. 187 billion euros could be saved in 7 years if rapid and concrete measures are implemented.
