News on environmental zones and air pollution

Are electric cars cleaner than diesel?

According to a study by the Ifo Institute, electric cars are not as environmentally friendly as one thinks, especially if one considers a life cycle analysis. VW contradicts this study and defends electric cars. The Golf TDI Diesel and the E-Golf are compared: In the end, CO2 emissions are 140g/km for the diesel model, 119g/km for the electric model considering the EU electricity mix and 142g CO2 with the German mix. One can discuss CO2 emissions, but against air pollution electric cars will always be better than diesel.
